  • What do I wear?
    Wear clothing that allows you to feel dry, comfortable, and confident. Your main focus while exercising should be giving it your all, and you shouldn’t be self-conscious or uncomfortable in the clothing you are wearing. Be sure to wear clothes that allow you to move freely and grant flexibility. Clothing made of synthetic material such as nylon, acrylic, or polypropylene provide a good balance of functionality and comfort.
  • How long until I see weight loss results?
    It can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks or more to see results. I know we live in an instant gratification world - and we expect results and changes NOW. The truth is, any short cut to weight loss, does not provide you with lasting results. I challenge you to take a new perspective: “I’m working towards a healthier me!” This is includes a proper diet along with your work out schedule. Take the pressure off yourself, and just enjoy your journey! The results will come.
  • What is the best diet for my fitness goals?
    A high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet is the most effective diet for promoting weight loss and reducing hunger. With so many different diets and fads out there, please choose one that is sensible, realistic to your goals, and healthy.
  • How long does it take to be proficient in self-defense?
    There is no magic number. We all learn at different speeds. The word “self-defense” covers a large range of situational training, and to learn it all would take a lifetime! The YGG program focuses on one specific area: defense against, and escapes from, the most common attacks women face. Self-defense does not require complexity, but rather direct simplicity. The key to learning self-defense is repetition of simple effective skills, and the knowledge to use your skills.
  • Do I need to be fit to defend myself?
    The answer is NO. What you do need is muscle memory. Muscle memory can only be achieved by repetition and practice. If you are faced with a potentially violent situation, you want to be able to automatically recall your defenses. YGG Fitness Self-Defense applications focus on efficiency of movement. You will learn how to target the weakest areas of an attacker with your strongest bodily weapons. Your YGG Fitness training will provide you with the skills, muscle memory, and knowledge to effectively execute your defenses.
  • What can I do about muscle soreness?
    To minimize muscle soreness - stay within you limits - slowly increase the intensity of your exercises and drink lots of water Gentle Stretching Muscle Massage Rest Hot Baths (add Epsom Salt - you’ll be glad you did) Slow motion movements in a swimming pool immediately after training
  • What if I want to cancel my membership?
    We would miss you if you go! But we’ve made canceling your month to month membership a simple process. There are no refunds for paid in full memberships. However, you can receive a credit to be used later, when you are ready to resume your classes.
